In July 2018, the UK government announced its plan to legalise cannabis for medical use, prompted by a series of influential patient-led campaigns.
Since then, a legal and regulated medical cannabis industry has emerged, providing employment opportunities for thousands of people involved in investing, researching, cultivating, manufacturing, prescribing, and dispensing medicinal cannabis products.
Despite existing for five years, the industry has never come together to reflect on its progress and determine how to create a bigger, better, and more sustainable medicinal cannabis sector in the UK.
That’s where The Medical Cannabis 100 comes in.
The Medical Cannabis 100 is a new event with a novel format and a resolute focus that aims to address the issues, challenges and opportunities the medicinal cannabis industry presents.
Unlike traditional conferences that consist of curated keynotes, plenaries, and panels, The Medical Cannabis 100 will prioritise the interaction between participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to form sessions, host conversations, and choose moderators.
The ultimate goal of The Medical Cannabis 100 is to create the most rewarding participatory event in the UK medicinal cannabis industry calendar. It will be founded on honest collaboration, peer-to-peer learning, and creative interaction, with the intention of creating a more cohesive and supportive industry.
An unconference is a participant-driven event where the content is entirely the product of those who participate and contribute ideas.
At Medical Cannabis 100, everyone who registers to participate will be invited to submit presentations, conversations, and ideas that matter to them.
Our job as the convenors of the event will be to take these content ideas and build a coherent conference program, but we will ensure that ample time is set aside to allow for ideas and conversations that flow on the day.
Unlike traditional conferences, Medical Cannabis 100 is all about collaboration and peer-to-peer learning. We believe that the best ideas and solutions come from a diverse range of perspectives and experiences, and we want to create an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone to share their knowledge and insights.
The event will take place at the stunning Greenwich Yacht Club, located on the banks of the River Thames. The venue is conveniently situated just a short walk from North Greenwich underground station on the Jubilee line.
With its picturesque setting and modern facilities, the Greenwich Yacht Club provides the perfect backdrop for The Medicinal Cannabis 100 event.
